Arizona Cowboys, Sonoran Desert Wildflowers, Wild Horses, Western Photography Workshop
March 16 - 22th
Photograph Cowboys in some of the most iconic Sonoran settings with the rugged Bradshaw mountain range and the stately Saguaro Cactus as backgrounds. Nearly 50 horse will be available for our photos of cowboy roping, riding and bucking not to mention many opportunities for portraits and still life's around the classic adobe headquarters of the famous Kay El Bar dude ranch.
This workshop is timed to put you in place to also capture the best of the desert spring wildflower bloom. We have received good rains this fall to germinate the poppies, mallow and other desert wildflowers so we are expecting great coverage in March this year. In addition to Wildflowers and Cowboys we will have many other desert subjects including wild burros, Salt River Wild Horses, Superstition Mountains and a restored Ghost town. We will also have at least one nigh time light painting photo shoot.
Your instructors, the team of Jess Lee and Tamara Gooch will also give a photo critique session and a image processing demonstration and tutorial.
This trip begins with a mid day pickup at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport or for those driving a pre arranged location on the 16th. The evening of the 16th we will have a meet the cowboys barbeque with photo session at the ranch. Your lodging will be provided in nearby Wickenburg. The 17th and 18th will be spent at the ranch and near by scenic areas with our cowboys and wranglers roping cattle, riding through scenic canyons and the beauty of the Sonoran desert spring. We will have a lunch time photo processing and image review session on the 18th.
The morning of the 19th we will photograph the run in of a large groups of beautiful ranch horses. The rest of the day will be spent photographing ghost towns, searching for wild burros and rugged mountain scenes with wildflower blooms. On the 20th we will photograph mountain scenes, desert wildflowers and wild burros as we head for our afternoon destination at the foot of the Superstition mountains for our base the next two days as we capture images of the Salt River Wild horses, the awesome Superstition mountains and a restored ghost town.
