Hi All,
I am finally back in the office for a few days so I would like to take a little time to offer a suggestion that many photographers need to SERIOUSLY consider if you want to improve your photos.

During my many trips with numerous dedicated image seekers and observing many others I see shooting as I travel. There is one common piece of equipment many people could buy that would improve their work.

That one purchase is a GOOD TRIPOD!!

You all spend a bunch of money on your photography for good reason. You want to have good images and a great experience. Here at JessLeePhotos we work hard for you and by the end of the trips exceed your expectations. We can do better with your help.

How ?

Bring a good tripod.

By good I mean Gitzo 3 series or larger. Simple

I know some others have quick leg locks ( which break) or the guy at the camera store told you his was good enough, or you could really save money on a lesser one or you really don't want/like to use a tripod anyway. I have heard that all from people who go home and by a good tripod AFTER the trip. Save yourself heart ache after your trip is over and just buy the best before your next trip.

Tripods last a long time and will do more for your photography than the newest camera or lens, which will be replaced in a few years.

Today we all tend to do more hand held photography with the higher ISO's available but think about the images you really admire. The ones you would like to capture yourself or the ones that almost worked. I will bet most of those were made in less than perfect bright light conditions. Low or unique light is the prime condition that makes special photos. Those are the conditions that require a really good tripod. One that is strong and tall enough to use with out a center post.

Along with a good tripod get a good ballhead.

Which one? That is a more difficult question. Of the ones made today none are perfect. Really Right stuff, Arca, Kirk and a few other make ballheads that are usable but none are perfect. Right now I use a old Arca, a Kirk, and a RRS. I have a Accra Tech Ultimate which is ok (small letters) for back packing but generally worthless if you want any speed.

There you have it. You can buy the longest lens, the latest/greatest Mark whatever camera but if you don't have a really good sturdy tripod your money is wasted!

Hope you all have a great summer and I will be sending out information on new trips soon.

Best Wishes and have a great day
Jess
